The Social Mobility Advisory Group has today published its report to Government.
Commenting, Professor Les Ebdon, Director of Fair Access to Higher Education and a member of the Group, said:
“I welcome this important report. I am pleased to see Universities UK’s continued commitment to fair access, and their ongoing recognition that universities have a crucial role to play in promoting and sustaining fair access.
“Achieving a more socially mobile society will be a team effort. Universities, colleges, schools, employers, Government and the third sector all have a crucial role to play. The spirit of collaboration runs through this report, and there are recommendations which could bring forward real change.
“But there is still much work to do. Too many talented people are still missing out on the life changing benefits of higher education. Your background should never hold you back, and I look forward to working with all those with an interest in social mobility to ensure that everyone with the talent to succeed in higher education is given the opportunity to do so.”
