Retention and student success
I want my institution’s work on retention and student success to be as effective as possible. Is there any advice/good practice on this?
The What Works? Student Retention & Success reports describe the findings of a research project by 22 institutions, funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Higher Education Funding Council for England, Action on Access and the Higher Education Academy.
Action on Access produces a series of ‘retention bulletins’ discussing this area of work and has also published a briefing, Social mobility through higher education: promoting the success of all students. Its publication Widening participation and disability – disability focus guide explores student success issues relating specifically to disabled students.
There is specific advice for medical schools on supporting students, in A journey to medicine: student success guidance (published by the Medical Schools Council with OFFA’s support).
